The Jim B. Episode, Revised and Expanded

If you’ve been a regular, you’ll notice that I took down the last two posts on the subject of Jim Bock and the Sponsorship Group in Chatham, NJ. I want to be clear that the episode detailed in those posts did not drive us to close the blog, so I’m going to tell the story again with more clarity.

Now then:

There is someone leaving comments on forums around the internet about someone named Jim Bock who runs the Sponsorship Group in Chatham, New Jersey. They’re hit-n-run cut/paste comments that look like this:

One of the all time most pathetic and dangerous AA groups ever is based out of Chatham NJ. They are called the Sponsorship Group and their leader is Jim B.

Dictator Jim B. and his disciples have been ruining the lives of young women since at least 2000. To call what they do “13th Stepping” would be a compliment. Imagine a group of people with no medical or psyciatric training that tell people how and why they need to stop taking necessary medication! It’s a disgrace. People have suffered and in some cases are dead as a direct result of this groups actions!

Jim B. and his disciples at the Sponsorship Group all have SG tatoo on their wrists and live by the rules of Jim B. He takes advatage of people who are in need of help. He should be charged with mental abuse and should have to register as a sex offender. He will experience KARMA soon.

A few of these comments appeared here (using the full last name), buried in the discussion section of random posts, and they were not on my radar.

So, last week, I received an email from Jim Bock that looked like this:  Continue reading The Jim B. Episode, Revised and Expanded

A Life Gone Awry: My Story of the Elan School, is now available on Amazon. I have not read the whole book, but I have skimmed over the parts that reference one of our resident trolls, Danny Bennison (aka; Diablo/Cuggle/Quagmire/Claude). Currently, he’s cyber-stalking some of our readers, and is taking up residence with two other AA stooges and ST trolls, Mondotuna and A.A. Alfie, over at the JREF forum. They’re just like the Three Amigos, if the Three Amigos suffered from delusion and sociopathy.

This must be a proud moment in Danny’s career. It’s one thing to gain recognition as an assclown on internet blogs and forums, but quite another to have a book written about him, chronicling his real-life victimization of vulnerable teenagers. Congratulations, Danny!

Serenity Searching With Chuck W.

Charles A Williams, Jr., an AA in New York with a scorching case of resentment, has been sentenced to five years of probation. Chuck is a serenity thief, who abused his position as Highway Superintendent by using town workers as his personal construction and landscaping crew. Shortly after his arrest, he threatened to shoot the local district attorney – for which he spent 97 days in the pokey:

No jail time for ex-Patterson highway chief

As part of the sentence, Williams, 47, will serve no jail time, having already spent 97 days at the county jail after threatening to shoot Putnam County District Attorney Adam Levy soon after his February 2010 arrest. Williams, who resigned from his elected $89,000-a-year job this past February when he pleaded guilty to a single count of second-degree grand larceny, will be on probation for five years, less the 97 days served in jail.

Visiting state Supreme Court Justice Albert Lorenzo also ordered a curfew for the first year of probation that requires Williams to be at his East Branch Road home from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., except for Fridays, when he can stay out to 10 p.m. to attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

Williams ‘ home at 699 E. Branch Road was at the center of the corruption case after state police and prosecutors said he used town workers on town time to put an addition on the home and landscape around his pool. He also used town mechanics to fix his personal vehicles on town time and stole $12,000 in gas from the Highway Department.

Nicely done, Chuck!

AA Man Blows His Own Horn

OK…so it really wasn’t his horn.

A guy in Pennsylvania arrives at a school all liquored up for an AA meeting, is told by the janitor that he is at the wrong place, so he steals a kid’s trumpet and leaves. Then he shows up at the right location, and proceeds to make an ass of himself:

According to police, Heffner, 32, came to St. James School on Feb. 3 asking how to find the AA meeting. A janitor told Heffner and another man the meeting was not being held at St. James. The janitor told police he later saw Heffner walking away from the school carrying a stolen trumpet. An empty trumpet case was found open on the floor near the door where the men entered, police said.

Around the same time the janitor notified police, another call came in from The Presbyterian Church on Grant Street for a disturbance involving two men. They matched the description of the men at St. James, police said, and one of them had a trumpet.

Police apprehended and arrested Heffner in the church parking lot. A witness told police Heffner came into the AA meeting at the church, placed the trumpet on a piano and became disruptive. Police said Heffner was highly intoxicated.

Charges reduced for a man who showed up drunk at an AA meeting

The good people of Beaver Falls can rest assured knowing this won’t happen again, because he’s still in AA (it was working so well for him before):

Heffner told Sewickley Patch he made a mistake, is back to work and is in recovery, attending AA meetings regularly.

“I’m always going to be a recovering addict for the rest of my life,” Heffner said. “The only requirement to go to AA is the desire to stop using,” Heffner said.

Alrighty then….

Meet Diablo, aka, Danny Bennison

“Matty be careful I visit your hometowne [sic] with about 250 other AA men for a conference every May look it up. I should be seeing you in May. We just may corral you and before you know it you be brainwashed. Oh and If I forgot to tell you that I come to your hometown ( like I forgot to tell you about being a Ex-Ass. “I have 21 yrs. in A.A. It does work if you work it.Stay in touch - Danny

The above quotes are from a guy named Danny Bennison, an AA with a spotted history, and a vicious mean streak. Currently, he writes for “McGowdoghouse,” a blog dedicated to this blog’s existence. His handle over there is “heretikreb,” but he is better known among those who peruse our comment section as “Diablo” (also “Cuggle,” and whatever other sockpuppet he may have slinked through our filter). Understanding the context of the quote requires a bit of background information, both of Diablo (Danny) and the recipient of the comment. It all started with Elan School.

Elan is a private school in Maine, dedicated to helping wayward teenagers. It employs a type of therapy known as “therapeutic community,” which makes the 12-steps look like walk through the park. Its most famous alumnus is Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel, made famous for the murder of his neighbor, Martha Moxley – an act he committed prior to attending Elan. Like Michel Skakel, most of those housed there are from well-to-do families, with the current annual fees costing upwards of $50,000. Continue reading Meet Diablo, aka, Danny Bennison

Serenity Arsonist

In a heartwarming story out of Texas, an AA who set fire to playground at a mosque, is trying to parlay his membership in AA into a get-out-of-jail-free card. We all know that a drinking habit leads to racism and pyromania, so his participation in AA makes perfect sense in trying to obtain a sentence reduction:

Henry Glaspell, 34, who now lives in Virginia, was charged with a hate crime after the fire and vandalism at the Dar El Eman Islamic Center on July 25.

According to the indictment, filed Tuesday, Glaspell vandalized the mosque “because of the race, color and ethnic characteristics of the individuals associated with that property.”

Glaspell faces up to 14 months in prison when sentenced, assistant prosecuting attorney Alex Lewis said. He said this morning’s plea hearing, in federal court in Fort Worth, took about 45 minutes.

Glaspell’s attorney, William Hermesmeyer, filed a motion Wednesday asking the court to consider his weekly meetings to Alcoholics Anonymous and his counseling, when sentencing him.

Quote of the Day

“And that is a shame that some would spend their time in futile resentment trying to mislabel AA as some religious cult. I have seen some others ex-AA’ers with the same vendetta trying to sway others with their copy and paste twisting meanings. Most of them anti-God Christian hating atheists authors trying to mock AA’ers as brainwashed people when that is the farthest from the truth….”

- Nite Byrd, an AA, commenting on this post made about the term “Dry Drunk.”

(I posted the link to a frozen page because I have no doubt the original thread and the link to our site might soon be deleted.)

The “P” Stands for “Pedophile”

Among the interests Dick B lists on his profile, is listening to Hawaiian music. He is likely a big fan of Gregg Perry, a musician on the Big Island, a member of AA, and collector of kiddie porn. He was recently convicted of possessing such material, and has been awaiting sentencing on the case, which is currently being delayed to allow two girls to fly to Hawaii and testify that Gregg P had molested them back in 2002 (If they have a few thousand bucks and resentment, and wish to learn about ‘their part’ in the molestation, they can stay in Dick B’s tax-free luxury condo, aka, “Freedom Ranch”). The prosecution has been provided transcripts of interviews done with these girls at the time of the incidents. Gregg P’s attorney is balking at this, which is fine. This is what defense attorney’s do. His argument is that those molestations have nothing to do with Gregg P’s collection of kiddie porn. That isn’t exactly true, but it’s rigorously true, which is close.

Among the character references for this jackass are his Alcoholics Anonymous associates, who I assume wrote letters describing his serenity, humility and spirituality.

Sentencing Delayed in Child Porn Case

The Doctor’s Opinion: You’re Hot!

A Minnesota AA and doctor is in a bit of hot water for violating her ethical responsibilities, and seducing one of her patients. Ann Friedmann, an obstetrician and gynecologist, put a unique spin on 13th stepping. She befriended and began treating another AA with a history of psychological problems, became her sponsor, and set forth on a sexual relationship for the next several months. Her argument was interesting…and typical:

Friedmann denied wrongdoing, arguing that the patient initiated the sexual relationship, and that their professional relationship ended four days later in September 2005.

But the board found that Friedmann violated her legal and ethical duties to maintain professional boundaries, and that she had blurred the lines for months by taking overnight trips with her patient.

Friedmann, who worked at the Women’s Health Center in Northfield, did not dispute the facts: She began treating the patient in January 2005, after they met at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. The patient, a 39-year-old woman with “a complex medical and psychiatric history,” asked Friedmann to become her AA sponsor that April, and for a month, Friedmann agreed.

Medical practices board reprimands two doctors

First, she held true to the AA script by reminding the patient/sponsee of “her part” in the abuse, and then minimized her abuse as a physician by claiming the professional relationship ended within a few days. What she or this article does not mention is the fact that she continued in her role as an AA sponsor to manipulate the very person who she was supposed to be counseling. Nobody from AA will speak out about this, and she will not be held accountable for her manipulation of her sponsee. Unlike the medical board, there is no oversight. It will be business as usual in the separate universe of AA.

In a second case, the board suspended another physician for failing a required drug test. Maybe she should give Dr. Friedmann a call, and join her group. She has an open slot for a new sponsee.
